6 Secrets To Leading Without A Title

"To lead without a title, be good at initiating, building and maintaining relationships." - Ebenezer Osei

1. HAVE EXCELLENT RELATIONSHIP SKILLS.

To lead without a title, be good at initiating, building and maintaining relationships. "The essence of leadership is relationship; influencing people to achieve this together that can be achieved alone."

A leader who has no relationship with his people is a stranger taking a walk alone. To do this, I cultivated the habit of shaking hands with all my church members before they depart. Before the closing prayers, I am already at the door.

In addition, I try to take pictures with as many as I can after church service and during special program. These little acts have helped a lot in building relationship with my members.

2.  EMPOWER OTHERS.

To lead without a title, be a symbol of empowerment to those around you. You don't need a title to Empower Others neither do you need expensive resources.

Empowerment in simple terms means giving others the tools and resources to be effective in whatever they do. Relationship is about identifying the purpose and potential in people. Empowerment is helping them realize and manifest the potential.

3. DISCOVER POTENTIALS.

To lead without title, help people to discover themselves in the areas of their purpose, potential, gifts, talents, capabilities and the likes. Their world is full of lost potentials. Discover them and you're a leader. Great men never forget those who discovered them.

It is hard to forget about and disobey people who discovered the gold in you. Do same and you've inscribed your name in the hearts of men with an indelible ink. Men are containers of potentials. Leaders are the discoverers of these hidden potentials.

4. KEEP THEM IN PRAYERS.

God is the manufacturer of man. He alone can reveal to the man, his purpose and that of another man. Through prayers, God can reveal to you the purpose, potential and gift of your fellow men. This explains why most men of God are excellent leaders.

5. DEVELOP YOURSELF AND HELP OTHERS TO DO SAME.

One thing you can separate from leaders is the desire to develop themselves. To lead Without title, develop yourself spiritually, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Spiritually, develop yourself through consistent study of the word and prayers.

To develop yourself emotionally, know your temperament and control your emotions. (Anger, frustration, excitement etc). Not too long ago, I was heavily criticized and lambasted at a meeting. Although it wasn't a pleasant feeling, I have to endure and control myself.

Intellectually, develop your mind through reading, attending seminars, making research, reading biographies and articles and many more. Leaders are readers and any committed reader is a potential leader. Leadership is about developing your followers. If a leader hasn't developed himself, how can he develop his followers?

6. STAND FOR RIGHT AND FIGHT THE WRONG.

To lead without a title, declare a hundred percent support for the right and an equal hundred percent rejection for the wrong. Leaders fight against the wrong in societies and champion what is right.

Check the history of the world. Great leaders are those who stood against the ills of societies and fought for the welfare of humanity.

I hope these six secrets will help us to become leaders even we have no title.
